Thur 19th July - Play Murcar Links
Murcar Links Golf Club was founded in 1909. Designed by Archie Simpson, professional at neighbouring course Royal Aberdeen, he apparently spent many a lunch break, working on the design. Later revised by James Braid, Murcar is a classic mix of elevated tees and crumpled fairways that twist in and out of the dunes. It’s not a long course but it requires thought and accuracy. A beautiful and rugged links course it is rated 38th in Scotland.
Fri 20th July - The Open Championship at Carnoustie
Today will be your first day at, and the second day of, the 2018 Open Championship at Carnoustie. Watch the world’s best players jostle for position as they look to make the cut and give themselves a chance to get their hands on The Claret Jug.
Sat 21st July - Play Trump International
Trump International is a world class links course designed by Martin Hawtree that opened in 2012 after seven years of high profile disputes with local landowners and environmentalists. It occupies a three mile stretch of land between Murcar Links and Cruden Bay on the North Sea coast. Although a new addition to Scotland’s golfing landscape, there is no doubt of its quality and beauty. The 18th tee shot is truly memorable perched up high on the Balmedie dune system.
The course ranks 10th in Scotland, 20th in UK and 65th in the world.
Sun 22nd July - The Open Championship at Carnoustie
Head back to Carnoustie for the fourth day and climax of the 2018 Open Championship. Join the players and spectators to watch who will be named Open Champion and The Champion Golfer of The Year.
Mon 23rd July - Transfer to The Principal Hotel, Edinburgh
Tue 24th July - Play North Berwick West Links
The West Links in North Berwick is a one off. With nine holes out and nine holes back in and with a short par 4 18th hole that finishes in the town, it has a similar layout to the Old Course. It’s also the 3rd oldest course in the world still playing over its original fairways. The views out over the Firth of Forth are magnificent and when you come to the par 3 15th hole (Redan) you will be playing the most copied hole in golf. No wonder it is one of the most loved (and popular) golf courses in Scotland.
Wed 25th July - Play Dunbar Golf Club
Golf has been played in and around the ancient town of Dunbar since the 17th century. The club though wasn’t formed until 1856 when 15 holes were laid out. It was later extended to 18 with the help of Old Tom Morris. The course is mainly links (the first 3 holes are more parkland) before you set over a narrow strip of land where the wind is a constant challenge and the sea comes into play on the back nine. It is not a long course but is most entertaining especially as you hug the coast on the back nine. Well worth its 32nd ranking in Scotland.
Thur 26th July - Play Craigelaw Golf Club
Located on the southeastern coast near Edinburgh, Craigielaw Golf Club is in close proximity to the very links courses that inspired its own design, including Gullane and Muirfield. Opened in 2001, the course stands out as one of the newest courses in an area known for having some of the oldest golf courses in the world. Despite being much younger in comparison, Craigielaw G.C. manages to hold its own as one of the most challenging links golf courses in Scotland. The layout features interesting hole designs that will have golfers hitting both tee shots and approach shots over bunkers, stone walls, rough, and meandering streams.
