What to Expect

Get a real flavour by staying in St Andrews and playing courses that reflect the area, its history and heritage. With 2 days leisure time you also get some time for much needed rest and relaxation.

Day 1 Arrival & Play St. Andrews New Course

The oldest ‘new’ course in the world, the second course at the Home of Golf was built by the Keeper of the Green Tom Morris in 1895 and it was imaginatively named to differentiate from its famous neighbour. Boasting undulating fairways and challenging greens, the New Course is a classic test of links golf.

Day 2 Ballot for St. Andrews Old Course

st andrews

The oldest and most iconic golf course in the world. The home of golf. The Swilken Bridge and Hell Bunker are recognised across the globe, yet the greatest feature of the Old Course is that despite its grand status it remains a public golf course, open to all.

If unsuccessful in the ballot play St Andrew’s Jubilee Course.

Day 3 Play Carnoustie

carnoustie

Designed in 1850 by Alan Robertson with minor changes by Mackenzie and Ebert in 2017, Carnoustie is a world-renowned links golf course. A host to The Open on seven occasions, most recently the 2018 Championship. A very challenging links course, who can forget Jean Van de Velde’s Open demise on the 18th hole in the Barry Burn!

Not the most scenic of courses (you rarely get glimpses of the sea), it nevertheless tests every shot in the bag on more than one occasion.

Day 4 A choice of a Gin, Beer, or Whisky tasting

eden-mill-titel

Experience an indulgent look into Scotland’s national drink at the Eden Mill Distillery near St Andrews, presented by a true expert.

Day 5 Play Kingsbarns

Kingsbarns

Situated just 6 miles from St Andrews Kingsbarns is an important addition to the ancient links courses in this area. One of the delights of the course is that you can see the North Sea from virtually every part of the course. Created by the vision of Kyle Philips in the late 20th century earthmovers rumbled and shifted hundreds and thousands of tonnes of earth to create the landscape you see today, uncovering The Cambo burn as part of the work.

Kingsbarns jointly hosts The Alfred Dunhill Cup every year and has also hosted The Women’s British Open in the past few years.

Day 6 Play Crail

Crail

The Balcomie links, with its marvellous views of the Firth of Forth, is the home of the Crail Golfing Society. The 9th oldest golf club in the world it was formed at a meeting in the local pub (yes a pub again!) in 1786. A short par 69 and under 6000 yards the yardage is irrelevant, given the ever-present wind. A course where every shot has to be fashioned not just hit, it was initially designed by a local farmer before it was redesigned by Old Tom Morris. It is ranked 74th in Scotland.

Day 7 Leisure Day

Day 8 Breakfast & Private Transfer to the Airport
