Day 2 Play Turnberry, Ailsa

Turnberry, Ailsa

The par 70, 7,211 yard course is a one of Scotland’s most scenic Open Championship links courses with dramatic views over the small island of Ailsa Craig in the Firth of Clyde and over to the Mull of Kintyre and Isles of Arran. Significant recent course re-development has met with universal praise and makes this one of the most perfect places to play golf.

Day 3 Play Royal Troon

Royal Troon was founded in 1878 after a meeting in the pub by a few golf enthusiasts. Designed originally by George Strath, James Braid later modified and extended the layout. It first hosted The Open in 1923 and 9 times subsequently – most recently 2016 when Henrik Stenson was the winner. Troon was bestowed Royal status in 1978 ( the last one to be granted this status) and is a traditional out and back course.

Make your score on the outward nine as the inward nine is severe often playing into the prevailing wind. The 6th is the longest par 5 in Open Championship golf and the 8th The Postage Stamp is the shortest at 123yrds.

Royal Troon is ranked 25th in the U.K and 77th in the world.

Day 4 Play Prestwick

One of the oldest golf clubs in the world, Prestwick Golf Club inaugurated the first 12 Open Championships. One of the most revered of all Scottish links courses and clubs.

Day 5 Play Dundonald Links

Dundonald Links

Dundonald Links was designed by Kyle Phillips and is already considered a modern day classic. With a great mix of holes and great putting surfaces you will not be disappointed. Home to the 2016 Scottish Open, Dundonald is a stern test of golf, especially if the wind gets up.

Day 6 Play Western Gailes

Western Gailes

Four Glaswegians fed up with playing on muddy parkland founded the club in 1897. It was designed by Mr F Morris and was untouched until a number of holes were revised by Fred Hawtree in the mid 1970’s.

More or less a nine out and nine back in with the clubhouse centrally-located, Western is a stiff golfing test – expect to use every club in the bag. The fairways undulate gently, interrupted occasionally by 3 meandering burns that dissect this thin strip of land. The greens are cleverly located in naturally folded ground and are fast, firm and subtly contoured.

Western Gailes is ranked 14th in Scotland and 36th in the U.K. Western Gailes has hosted a number of important events including the 1972 Curtis Cup and the 1964 PGA Championship. The course has been a final qualifier when the Open is hosted by Troon or Turnberry.

Day 7 Leisure Day

Day 8 Breakfast & Transfer to the airport

Accommodation Highlight – Piersland House Hotel

7 nights at the 4* Piersland House Hotel
William Leiper, the renowned Scottish architect designed the ‘Piersland’ with it’s glorious gardens and sun facing terrace. Prior to Hotel use, it was the home of the Johnnie Walker Scotch Whisky family. A lovely place to stay.

Accommodation Highlight – Marine Hotel

Marine Hotel

The Marine Hotel is a 4 star spa hotel overlooking Royal Troon Golf Club. It offers breathtaking views out over the links and over to the Isle of Arran. This hotel offers luxurious bedrooms, excellent dining and an impressive spa right on the doorstep of one of Scotland’s most formidable championship courses.
