Play Portmarnock Golf Club

Portmarnock Golf Club sits majestically on a narrow tongue of shallow duneland. And as a measure of its enduring quality, it remains one of the most respected venues in world golf. No other Irish course has been graced by so many distinguished players in a rich history encompassing a broad sweep of significant events. It is where Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead successfully followed its serpentine route through classic linkland on their way to victory in the 1960 Canada Cup. And it is where another generation of Americans, including Phil Mickelson and David Duval, secured a memorable Walker Cup triumph in 1991. A truly outstanding golf links.

Day 2 Play Castlerock Golf Club

This classic links, set amid towering sand dunes, lies a few miles across the River Bann from Portstewart. The view down the coast each way is spectacular. A round on Castlerock Golf Course will test every department of a proficient golfer’s game. Narrow fairways lined with thick rough make it a difficult round if you can’t keep your drives straight, but the beautiful landscapes are worth the journey alone, as you’re bound to lose yourself in the classic scenery that will be a fantastic addition to any golf break or tour.

Day 3 Play Ardglass Golf Club

Ardglass Golf Course is a stunning links course on the North-Eastern coast of Ireland. The course follows the coastline, with no fewer than 8 holes where the sea and coastline come into play. In fact the sea is visible from all 18 tees and greens. It’s spectacular location and layout make it much photographed but most agree that ‘the view from the elevated 12th tee, with the backdrop of the Irish Sea and Mourne Mountains, is to die for. A golf course and experience, that lives long in the memory.

Day 4 Play Royal Portrush

There was much excitement at Royal Portrush as it eagerly anticipated the return of The Open Championship in 2019, after a gap of 68 years. And what a return! It’s an incredible links course that is set along the north Antrim coastline with quite breathtaking ocean views. The fairways sit nestled in amongst the dunes with greens that tuck naturally into the topography. It’s a tough challenge and it’s no wonder a part of the course is nicknamed Calamity Corner. The course has also had some universally acclaimed re-design work completed for The Open. Just make sure you avoid ‘Big Nellie’ on the 17th!

Day 5 Play Portstewart Golf Club

The Strand Course with towering sand dunes and amazing views opened in 1992, is the jewel in Portstewart’s crown. It presents a true test of golf set in classic links country amid towering sand dunes with views at every turn of the blue Donegal Hills, the rolling Atlantic and the tranquil estuary of the River Bann.

Day 6 Play Royal County Down

Ranked by many as the best course in the British Isles and by some as the best in the world, Royal County Down is a classic links course that has to be played. It occupies the most majestic location, where the bay of Dundrum empties into the Irish Sea overlooked by the towering peak of Slieve Donard. The course dates back to 1889 and still fiercely protects and maintains its traditions. It is often said that ‘if a measure of a golf course is the holes you can remember afterwards, then RCD is one of the greatest of them all’.
