Itinerary

Day 1Play The Kings Course

James Braid was commissioned to design the King’s course which opened in for play in 1919. It hosted an informal Ryder Cup style match in 1921 and more recently, it hosted the Curtis Cup, the Scottish Open and the Dunhill Trophy. The layout which is ranked 16th in Scotland and 38th in UK is arguably one the finest moorland course’s in the world.

Day 2Play The Queens Course

The Queen’s Course is known as the pretty little sister at Gleneagles. It too was designed by James Braid and it opened for play in 1917. From the medal tees the course measures less than 6000 yards but it is still a great test of golf in beautiful surroundings.

Day 3Play The PGA Centenary Course

Designed by Jack Nicklaus the PGA has an American style layout and was built as a stadium course measuring 7300 yards from the back tees. The course opened in 1993 and played host to the 2014 Ryder Cup which was won by Europe 16.5 to USA 11.5.

The three course table d’hôte menu in the The Strathearn Restaurant represents fine highland dining with silver service at it’s best. The Strathearn’s traditional walnut gueridon trolleys, silver cloches and butler trays create an atmosphere of a bygone era  almost never seen today.

Dining & Drinks Options

Andrew Farlie Restaurant

By reputation is one of the best restaurants in Scotland and the only one to hold two Michelin stars.
Andrew is usually on site both in the kitchen on the wall in a portrait or in the kitchen garden clipping salad or pulling up veg.
Deep in the hotel’s interior, well laid out and lit, a room where we come to experience as well as eat ingredients that seem both effortless and masterfully matched dish after dish. Tasting menus and a la carte. Perfectly judged, mouth watering morsels, pre and apres.

The American Bar

The American Bar is a truly special space for intimate drinks. Reminiscent of the iconic bars of the 1920’s and 30’s is the perfect place for couples and friends to toast a special celebration or enjoy a memorable drink before or after dinner. They have a exquisite caviar selection and the drinks list showcases an exceptional collection of cocktails inspired by the roaring 20’s era. Champagne by the glass, bottle and magnum.
When we visited the barman was keen to show us his shinny new champagne “trolley” which had every conceivable syrup to add to and compliment flavour.
A great place to hang out and our favourite bar in Gleneagles. Dress code- no informal clothing of any kind including ripped jeans, trainers, baseball caps, non collered t shirts and shorts. Jacket’s and ties not essential but formal dress welcomed.

The Cellars

We love this corner of Gleneagles- a quiet haven full of wonderful wines. You can still see the original railway bays from the days when the hotel received it’s wines by rail from all over Europe. The Cellars are ideally suited to wine and spirit tasting, intimate dinners, cocktail parties and canape selections.
The chefs will be happy to customise a menu to fit the occasion. Home to the Sommelier’s table and 17,000 bottles of wine you will be introduced to some of the cellar’s hidden gems- perfect for choosing a vintage to pair with your meal.
Tours are available or catering for groups up to 12 dining or 20 for receptions/tasting.

The Dormy

The Dormy’s relaxed vibe and effortless charm mean it’s a favourite with families, friends and golfers. The glowing fire and iconic views across the King’s and Queen’s Courses create a relaxing atmosphere, while a well-sourced, hearty menu of grill classics, comfort food and specialities from our tandoor and pizza ovens appeals to all.
